Hi, I'm Sienna!

Yes, like the minivan. Also, Yes, I own the minivan.

Hi! I’m Sienna… more frequently known as mommy, mama, mom, MOOOOM, etc. I am (you guessed it) a mama of 4 kiddos ages 8 and under. My day job consists of keeping these small humans happy and healthy, while simultaneously avoiding folding laundry, doing dishes, and cleaning filthy potty training bathrooms. (Iykyk) I also drink way too much coffee (but seem to never finish a cup), don’t take enough showers, eat A LOT  of chocolate, have way too many pairs of shoes, and enjoy running even though I’m quite slow. I have a weird obsession with coffee mugs, floral prints, and the color purple. I’m an enneagram 9, a Leo, and quite honestly, think I’m hilarious. (My hubby says I’m the only one who thinks I’m funny and that’s also okay with me).

This business has been a far off “someday” dream for years. I’ve quietly done photography on the side for those who ask me to, and obsessively learned about breastfeeding for shits and gigs since my oldest was born almost 9 years ago. Until one night my husband, Brendon (who I will lovingly call Brenny from here on out) asked me why it was my someday dream, and not my right now dream. I responded almost annoyed that he would even ask that “Now isn’t my time. I have to take care of everyone, it’s just not my time to have my own dreams” he immediately challenged me.. “but why? Who says it’s not your time?” This led into a deep dive of suppressed feelings and emotions that eventually resulted in me saying “well, f*ck it, I guess it is my time”. I applied for school the next day. I began brainstorming business ideas.

After 4 healthy pregnancies, 1 miscarriage, and countless hours breastfeeding, I had developed a passion for birth, lactation, and all things baby/newborn. I knew what my dream was deep down. I wanted to show mothers and families the power of birth through the lens of my camera. But I also wanted to empower these same families to successfully breastfeed if that’s something they were interested in. Enter: Birth Photography and Lactation Services. This wouldn’t be a job, this would be an absolute privilege. The rest is history.

I am currently pursuing a degree in Health/Wellness and Human Lactation. While doing that, I have also entered a program to become a certified birth photographer. A literal dream. And I get to live it every single day.

My goal for this business is to empower, strengthen, and guide families on their journeys into this world of parenthood. To change the narrative of a cold hospital birth. To give the control back to mothers and their partners as they navigate a new life together with their babies.

First Expressions is a labor of love, an empowered community of mothers, babies, and families of ALL types coming together to realize and harness their strength through the power of birth and lactation.
